The Mediterranean Center for Arts & Sciences (MCAS) offers a wide range of liberal arts study abroad courses, in semester, quarter and summer programs. Each program offers a prescribed curriculum in the area of Mediterranean Studies -- with a focus on modern studies in the winter (January through March), and ancient studies in the spring (March through June).
All programs are combined with academic field trips (included in the program fee and an integral part of the program in Sicily) that enable students to explore the diversity of the Mediterranean world from a unique perspective. Experience the richly varied culture of this fascinating and mysterious island.

Spring Quarter Program in Ancient Mediterranean Studies (10 weeks)
The Spring Quarter program runs from March through June for a total of 10 weeks in Syracuse. All Quarter program students take the following courses, for a total of 13 credits:
- Italian Language & Contemporary Culture
- History of the Ancient Mediterranean
- Archaeology & Art of the Ancient Mediterranean
- Religion & Philosophy in the Ancient Mediterranean

Spring Quarter program academic fieldtrips and site tours include Ortigia, Syracuse, Catania, Agrigento and Piazza Armerina.
Fall or spring quarter: 13 credits.
GPA Requirements: 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
