This spectacular palazzo is adorned with magnificent neoclassical paintings and frescoed ceilings. In addition to the Palazzo's Renaissance splendor, it is replete with modern resources and amenities, including a library, computer labs with unlimited internet access, classrooms, and a student lounge.
The three program options in Perugia are designed to accommodate a wide variety of student needs and expectations. Whether you are looking to immerse yourself in the Italian language (Full Immersion Program at the University of Perugia's Universita per Stranieri), to learn Italian while pursuing courses in art, political science, history and culture taught in English (Umbra Institute's General Studies program including honors courses for qualified students), or to carry out independent research under the guidance and supervision of expert faculty (Independent Research program ), there are program options to fit your curricular interests and the requirements of a broad range of home schools.
Credits and Grades:
Courses may be selected among various departments. You will earn the following hours of credit.
* Fall and spring semester: 15 credits.
* Academic year: 30 credits.
Admission Requirements:
GPA Requirements: 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
You must be in good academic standing and not on disciplinary probation. You need to submit a complete application including a transcript, letter of recommendation, and an advisor's form before your application will be considered. Less
I took classes at the Umbra Institute through Arcadia, so I didn't primarily deal with Arcada. however, when ARcadia was involved it was great. The Umbra Institute was amazing and Perugia is beautiful. I would highly recommend this program. I felt like I was able to have a truly authentic experience in a small and closely knit city. I also was able to immerse myself culturally and my language ability was much improved by the end of my year abroad... Read more
I did the summer study abroad program at Umbra Institute back in 2006. It was probably one of the best summers of my life, but unfortunately this had little to do with Umbra. It was just amazing to spend two months in Europe while the World Cup was going on in Germany! I even made it to Germany for a week to watch a game.
