Students directly enroll in American University of Rome (AUR). AUR is a small, private, liberal-arts college which conducts its entire academic program in English. The majority of degree-seeking students are European; however AUR accepts several hundred study abroad students from many U.S. universities each semester. Students can choose from a wide variety of courses offered at AUR and can participate in all campus extra-curricular activities.
Founded in 1969 as an independent, coeducational, four-year institution, The American University of Rome is located in a beautiful villa located on Rome's highest hill, the Gianicolo, on the right bank of the Tiber River. The university has an international enrollment from all over Europe and its faculty comes from leading educational, business, and government centers throughout Europe and the United States.
The AUR villa and associated facilities offer a complete range of facilities, including classrooms, art and design studios, and a student lounge. Adjacent to the villa is a newly renovated building that houses the library, computer laboratories, faculty offices and classrooms. You will take courses at American University of Rome (AUR), located in the Monteverde neighborhood of Rome. Enjoy classes with International faculty who emphasize Italian culture in every aspect of the curriculum. On-site lectures and field trips bring the lessons of the classroom into the ancient structures that make up the city of Rome.
