Featured Blogger from Bowling Green State University: Lisa’s Year in Austria

by Kayti Christian on July 23, 2012

Meet Lisa, a mid western student who spent time studying abroad in Austria and traveling all over Europe! Below are some of our favorite posts from her blog.

So I went on a small little a adventure and here are my exact thoughts as I sat on this bench….

This very moment is a moment I wish every single person could experience! It is by far one of the most beautiful sites I have ever seen! I am sitting on the pest side of Budapest along the river! No picture even comes close to capturing this moment. The sounds of the city in the background but the calmness in the air. The bridge is lights up and across te river there are several lovely buildings lit up spectacularly! I feel so at peace sitting on this bench looking at the reflections in the water as boats cruise on by! This is a perfect ending to a wonderful day!  Read More >>

The best way to travel around this gorgeous little city is by boat no doubt!! It is most definitely not a handi-capped accessible city! all of the bridges to cross all the canals were stairs. There were also no bikes, motorbikes, or cars on the island. the “roads” simply would not be wide enough and with all the bridges everywhere, taking a bike would just be difficult. The island is small enough though that it isn’t difficult to get to any place by foot.  Although, it was definitely really easy to get lost because the roads just go wherever they feel like and then change names and aren’t labeled well.  No grid pattern whatsoever!!…Read More >>

On the way to the train station in Levanto, we (the Aussie and I) stopped at a little pastry shop and bought the traditional Easter pastry that was really good!  I think it would be what is called a quiche. Read More >>

I arrived in Pisa and it took me a bit to hunt down where to drop my luggage off for a few hours so that I wouldn’t have to drag it around while exploring the city!  It didn’t take long to explore the city considering it was rather small, and there really wasn’t much to see. I of course stopped by to check out the Leaning Tower of Pisa and then a few other things that were pointed out on my tourist map.

So I have had a wonderful weekend, and I figured I would start off with my little adventure I took on Thursday. I didn’t have any class and it was finally sunny outside and not chilly. I hopped on my bike and began my exploration. I rode back out to Leopoldskron so that I could ride around the entire pond/lake. I also enjoyed some time chilling on a bench reading…Read More >>
