With an area of 110, 910 sq. km., Bulgaria is only slightly larger than Tennessee located in South Central Europe. It's capital city, Sofia, have a population of 1.3M. It is the 14-largest country in Europe and its location has defined it as a historical crossroad for various civilizations.

The population, as of February 2011, is at 7,364,570 which continuous to decrease at a rate of .7% because of its economy. Bulgarians Make up 84.8% of the population followed by the Turkish at 8.8% and Roma at 4.9%. Other ethnic groups make up 0.7% of the population.

One of the country's leading men's volleyball teams is ranked number six in the world according to 2011 FIVB Rankings. The country's popular sport is football and have a contribution to Manchester United's team with forward Dimitar Berbatov and Hristo Stoichkov. read less
