Made fantastic friends and experienced amazing things (especially beer!)
I fell in love with Prague (like most study abroad students do with their city). It's easy to get around (most people speak English) and is very cheap (great for college students!). I loved that the program was not just American students- I made friends with people from across the world. I especially loved living in a dorm with other Czech students; I felt I really got to see what it is like to be a student in another country. There is so much to see there; I spent entire weekends just wandering around the back streets of Old Town or looking at vendors on the Charles Bridge. If I had known how much fun I would have, I would have done a full year there!

Food
I happen to really like Czech food (my family is from this area, so I grew up on a lot of the food). It's very heavy. Make sure you try the traditional Svickova na smetane (beef in cream sauce). It's weird, but good. The duck is also really good (and I had never had duck before going to Prague!) There's a good restaurant across the street from the school called Sklep that has all the traditional stuff. Try the Bryndzové Halušky there, which is like dumplings with cheese and bacon (sort of like mac & cheese). Otherwise, there's a lot of pizza places (not something I expected in Prague!). In general, it's a very meat and potatoes cuisine, but one of my friends was vegetarian and she made it!

Social Life
I had a fantastic time making friends in Prague. There's a bar in the dorms where everyone will meet before going out. Every Tuesday the Buddy System( through the school) throws a party an a different night club in Prague. They also schedule trips and events, like the Beer Rally and trips to Poland, Germany, etc. In general students stick with people from their own country, but if you make an effort you can easily escape that trap.

Health Service
I never had to deal with them personally, but I know a lot of people had a lot of trouble.

City Life
The city is very easy to get around, and very safe. Just hop on a tram and get off at a random spot! Explore the city around where the Dancing House is. I didn't get there until the end, and wish I had gotten to see around there more! There's a great cafe there called Cafe Amandine that has a fantastic brunch. The Pub is always a great place to go with friends (although a little touristy). In general, I suggest exploring the small winding streets in Starometska and Maolstranska. Also, if it's warm enough, go paddle boating on the river!

History of the Czech Lands
Loved this class- very easy and I learned a ton! Only attendance and one paper for a grade, but each class you study a different time period in Czech history. It was great because you would go out of class and be able to see the buildings and memorials you discussed in class. Also the professor is the nicest man and loves when students are interested in his class. He'll give you great recommendations for restaurants, museums, etc.!

International Finance
This class was very hard. I took it because I knew the grade would not transfer to my home university, so I would be better off taking it abroad (since the class would also be difficult in the U.S.). If you have never taken a finance course before, it will be hard to follow. On the plus side, I made a lot of international friends studying for this class!

Prague is an amazing centrally located city that is amazing to study in. Our dorms and school were further from the city center than other programs but I had an amazing time. From paddle boating on the river with bloody marys to spending afternoons in the Royal Gardens or at the park chilling at the beer garden you will have a great time!
