I loved the city and the homestay! I felt completely emerged in Peruvian culture and my Spanish definitely improved a ton! I was able to travel to other parts of the country which was awesome. I took classes at the university which, for the most part, was great. I made Peruvian friends and the professors were understanding of my situation -- being a foreigner. My only complaint was I felt like I didn't really have a support group helping me out. The leaders of CIEE were not always the most helpful when it came to questions about the country, traveling, going out, of classes. Luckily, my host-family was great and I could ask them anything. Overall, great experience. I would go back in a second!

I have never been happier with a decision than the one I made to study abroad with CIEE in Lima, Peru. The CIEE program is well organized, a great price, and offers a truly emergent program for those who are looking to learn, improve, or perfect their Spanish skills. The administrators for this program were helpful, and kept in close touch with every student for the entire program-- not just the first two weeks like many. I will never have another experience quite like this one, but I am lucky I chose such an excellent program in a great place with amazing people.

CIEE Language and Culture Program in Lima, Peru Best experience ever!

I was in Language and Culture, a different subset of CIEE Lima, which I think no longer exists....however, I had the same support staff, host family experience, etc that they still have, just different classes (with students who didn't have much Spanish experience.) I LOVED my experience, my host family was fabulous, I made amazing American and Peruvian friends, traveled a lot and I am still in touch with my professors! (one just wrote me a recommendation!) Just remember, study abroad is what YOU make of it. Anyone could do any program and not learn a thing because they just stay with Americans - on the other hand, people in my program volunteered around the city, traveled, and made a point to spend a lot of time with just other Peruvians. And CIEE definitely encouraged this! I would recommend it!
