You will have limitless opportunities to immerse yourself in the local culture, make international friends, and explore beaches, jungles, and iconic sites throughout the country. You should start getting excited about:
* World-famous beaches - Thailand is renowned for white-sand beaches so fine, the sand squeaks under your feet. Once you've visited Thailand's coast, you'll understand why the Leonardo DiCaprio film The Beach was shot there.
* The legendary friendliness of the Thai people - Thailand is known as the "Land of Smiles" for a reason: the Thai people are warm, welcoming, and incredibly open-minded. In Thailand, a smile is the most appropriate reaction to almost every situation.
* A wide range of courses taught in English - If you're looking for a study abroad program with strong academics, you've come to the right place. CIS Semester in Thailand offers classes in everything from animation production to international business to travel industry management to the humanities. You will find coursework applicable to your major and satisfying to your intellect.
* Life in a contemporary, cosmopolitan city - Geographically, Bangkok is one of the largest cities in the world. The city is famous for its delicious cuisine, inexpensive shopping, and colorful nightlife. A semester in Bangkok will leave you yearning for more time in Thailand.
* A jumping-off point for destinations in Southeast Asia and beyond - Bangkok is situated in the heart of Indochina and shares borders with many wonderful, culturally rich countries. The international airport is a hub for all flights within Southeast Asia, and inexpensive tickets are readily available. When you find yourself with free time, be sure to explore other parts of Asia.
* A robust social scene with cultural activities galore - The many student interest groups on campus offer numerous social and cultural activities. Dances, concerts, plays, and movies take place frequently throughout the semester. Art, cultural, political, religious, and athletics clubs are a great way to make friends from all over the world.
* An amazing tropical climate - Bangkok has a tropical climate with average temperatures in the mid-80s year-round. Need we say more? Less
CIS Abroad kind of leaves you hanging on what to do once you are in a country and even what to do before you leave. I had the best experience of my life studying abroad in Thailand, but that was because I planned trips for myself and had to figure things out on my own. The communication was extremely disorganized which should probably be worked on. I never even met the "on-site" director because he was never "on-site". This did not affect my stud... Read more
I enjoyed my time in Thailand. CIS Abroad had some good field trips to amazing places. My advice is for you to also put in your own effort in getting to know the people, places, and culture. It is more fulfilling like this Read more
I studied abroad in Israel and Egypt for my spring break prior to this and it was fantastic! This Semester abroad honestly felt as though it was entirely thrown together. I won't say that Thailand didn't live up to my expectations, because the country did. The CIS program did not in terms of planning. For instance, no transportation to the university after the initial drop off, The apartments where decent, but there are much better places to choo... Read more
I loved my experience in Thailand. It was fantastic but that was because of the other students and what we turned it into. There really was no involvement by CIS. The application period was stressful because Jessica was very disorganized. My overall experience was fantastic but that was thanks to our own organizing not CIS Read more
This semester has been the best of my life, however this is not at all due to CIS. The program was weak, the trips would have been easier to organize myself. If I study abroad again it will never be through a third party. Read more

I absolutely loved exploring Bangkok and Southeast Asia, but I frequently asked how far the campus was from the city and no one was able to give me a clear cut answer. The university is a 30-45 minute cab ride and hour to hour and a half bus trip to the city. Although it did not directly affect my experience, I wish I was informed ahead of time to properly prepare for added expenses of travelling to and from Bangkok. Read more
I am Thai/American so this semester in Thailand was more of trip back to my original place of birth. Being raised in America I dont really know much about my own birth country.
Being here I have met so many people from different cultures and races from all around the world. Swiss, Sweden, Britain, Australia, America, Canada and more. My international awareness of the world has drastically increased and my mind more opened than ever. I highl... Read more
My experiences in Thailand will be unforgettable for the rest of my life. Studying abroad in Thailand has, so far, been one the most rewarding experiences of my life and I am beyond happy that I chose to live and study in this amazing country. The cities, food, culture and especially the people are all wonderful and only added to this unique experience. The memories I have made in Thailand from playing with tigers to traveling the islands via a l... Read more

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Thailand, and it has just flown by, as good things always do. Going to school at Mahidol University was a pleasant experience, and I didn't mind the uniforms at all. I wasn't used to such a light workload in all of my classes though. It almost felt like I was back in high school. Living in Salaya was nice, as it was away from the hectic atmosphere of Bangkok, and we could easily get into Bangkok if we needed t... Read more
