On Summer at Barcelona International College, you'll soak up all that this cultural hub of the Mediterranean has to offer both inside and outside the classroom. Start getting excited about:
* The most pristine white-sand beaches in Western Europe - Barcelona enjoys a Mediterranean climate with comfortable summer temperatures in the mid-70s. Summer is the perfect time to enjoy Barcelona's famed beaches.
* Life in the cultural capital of the Mediterranean - Barcelona is home to more World Heritage sites than any other city in Europe. You will witness 2,000 years of architectural and cultural splendor. The numerous museums, churches, cathedrals, concert halls, the modern art of Joan Miro, Pablo Picasso, and the influential architecture of Antoni Gaudi and Mies van der Rohe make Barcelona an aesthetically appealing destination for visitors from all over the world.
* Quality academics taught in English - Electives are taught mostly in English, but we encourage you to take intensive Spanish-language classes. This program is perfect for anyone, because the Spanish-language classes are offered for speakers of all levels and are tailored to meet your needs.
* The city of Barcelona - The cafe culture, boutique shops, tapas restaurants, and world-famous nightlife will keep you busy for a summer or a year.
* Cultural activities and excursions are included - We will take you to a Catalan cooking class, a flamenco show, and the Spanish cinema. The program also includes one weekend trip in Spain. Possible trips include beautiful Costa Brava, magical Granada, or majestic Madrid. Less
I lead a very intense life, constantly busy doing a million things, trying to make sure everything gets done. I never have time to simply stop and smell the roses and enjoy each experience as it happens. I spent everyday in Spain dreading when I would have to leave because the people are so alive there. They do everything with a passion like I've never seen before. If I take nothing else from living in Spain it will be Passion. The one thing I l... Read more
I had an amazing experience in Barcelona. I learned more than I ever expected to about the culture in Catalonia through my sports and culture of Spain and Catalonia class and was much more confident in my Spanish by the time I left Barcelona. Read more
I had a great time studying abroad. I learned a lot and made a lot of new friends, not only from all around the United States, but other countries as well. It was a great experience! Read more
I really enjoyed my trip to Barcelona using this program. I really had no complaints. I will say that I think that everyone should stay in a host family because their immersion is better and they have a built in tour guide, chef and support system if you get homesick. Read more
I chose this program because of its low price compared to the other study abroad programs for a summer session. The classes were pretty hard which I wasn't expecting, since it was a study abroad class in Barcelona, and I thought the program would consider this. Many students were happy with their housing, I wasn't because I was stuck in a very small room in which we couldn't move while everyone else that was paying the same price got much bigger ... The only main problems I had were my living situation, being squished in a single room with a roommate while paying the same amount as others in a much larger room. Also, there were a couple instances of people with the program relaying different information such as our books being included in the class payment fees while they were not. Overall I thought the classes were good. My Spanish class was very helpful I advanced as much as I had hoped ... Read more
This program has a great staff attached to it both in academia and cultural events, it's a great opportunity to learn all you can about Barcelona. Read more
My overall experience during my study abroad at the Barcelona International College was great. I loved the city, the food, the culture, the sights, and my host family. The school portion of the program was so-so, but most of the excursions and after-school activities were great too. I would definitely recommend this program to my friends and classmates. The only thing I would change is the amount of technological support is available at the schoo... Read more
If you are looking to get lots of credits from good teachers, this is the program for you. With 6 hours of class a day, then homework, quizzes, projects, tests, midterms, and finals there is little time to get to really see everything and enjoy your time abroad. Read more
I could not have predicted my time abroad in Barcelona to be as good or fun as it was. Everything from my host family to classes to the countless number of things to do in the city made it a nonstop adventure. There is no other city I would have chosen to study abroad in than this place. Read more

the program seemed a disorganized and the expectations were very poor. i came in with a lot of expectations that were not met and while the results were fine i just wish they had been clear about what i should expect. despite some bumps i had a wonderful trip and really learned a lot. it was a lot of fun and i absolutely recommend a home stay! I spent a month studying in Barcelona. Overall, I had an amazing experience. Not only did I learn about the history of Barcelona, but I became familiar with the cultural surroundings. It was great to see the difference of living between the United States and Spain. However, the living situation was terrible. My roommate and I were placed in a single room, whereas many other people had completely bigger rooms. Read more
