INSPIRING

I lead a very intense life, constantly busy doing a million things, trying to make sure everything gets done. I never have time to simply stop and smell the roses and enjoy each experience as it happens. I spent everyday in Spain dreading when I would have to leave because the people are so alive there. They do everything with a passion like I've never seen before. If I take nothing else from living in Spain it will be Passion. The one thing I learned is to live life with Passion. Tomorrow is not promised so approach each new experience with the wonder it deserves, wether that be cooking, eating, dancing, or simply walking down the street. I saw so much culture and I owe that to CISAbroad. Every week we had a cultural agenda that shared new, cool places to check experience on our own. We went on so many tours and walks around Barcelona and seen some of the coolest places that I never would have found on my own. I met amazing people and learned so much in such a short time. I feel forever changed. I want my life to be an adventure filled with the Passion I experienced in Barcelona, I am inspired to go and smell every rose that comes my way

    Program Administration

the faculty in Spain made my trip as awesome as it was, I have never met more amazing, gifted, intelligent people in my life. Being in Spain alone was fantastic by itself but being surrounded by staff that supported and cared about you made being in Spain 10x more great. That being said my only issue with administration was the volunteering aspect. I told CIS Abroad that I needed to volunteer a significant amount of hours in Spain and was told that it wouldn't be a problem and to wait until I reached Spain to set anything in stone but when I reached Spain it was almost impossible to find a place to Volunteer and consequently I did not volunteer as much as I needed to or would have liked and that was a disapointing but outside of that I have absolutely no complaints and Honestly the faculty in Spain worked tirelessly to try and find me a place to volunteer but just couldn't find one in time

    Living Situation

I was really apprehensive about living with a host family but now I am so happy that I did. My host family didn't speak English which forced me to pick up spanish that much faster and I bonded so much with my roommates that they became more that just roommates and more like close friends

    Cultural Immersion

I could not have been more satisfied with the cultural immersion aspect of CIS Abroad, every week there was something different, new and exciting to do and experience and wether it was taking us to those experiences as a group or giving us the option and opportunity to experience it ourselves I was constantly immersed in the culture

    Safety

I never questioned my safety in Spain as crazy as that sounds. I was terrified before I came about being mugged or kipnapped but I felt lived in the safest neighborhood in the world. I felt like Belle from beauty and the beast because everyone spoke to everyone else...me included.

the program seemed a disorganized and the expectations were very poor. i came in with a lot of expectations that were not met and while the results were fine i just wish they had been clear about what i should expect. despite some bumps i had a wonderful trip and really learned a lot. it was a lot of fun and i absolutely recommend a home stay!

I could not have predicted my time abroad in Barcelona to be as good or fun as it was. Everything from my host family to classes to the countless number of things to do in the city made it a nonstop adventure. There is no other city I would have chosen to study abroad in than this place.

I spent a month studying in Barcelona. Overall, I had an amazing experience. Not only did I learn about the history of Barcelona, but I became familiar with the cultural surroundings. It was great to see the difference of living between the United States and Spain. However, the living situation was terrible. My roommate and I were placed in a single room, whereas many other people had completely bigger rooms.

If you are looking to get lots of credits from good teachers, this is the program for you. With 6 hours of class a day, then homework, quizzes, projects, tests, midterms, and finals there is little time to get to really see everything and enjoy your time abroad.

My overall experience during my study abroad at the Barcelona International College was great. I loved the city, the food, the culture, the sights, and my host family. The school portion of the program was so-so, but most of the excursions and after-school activities were great too. I would definitely recommend this program to my friends and classmates. The only thing I would change is the amount of technological support is available at the school for both professors and students because that made teaching and doing homework quite a hassle. Other than that annoyance, my overall experience was fantastic!

CISabroad - Summer in Barcelona I had a great time although the housing was very unorganized.

Reviewed by Alexa Pace on .

The only main problems I had were my living situation, being squished in a single room with a roommate while paying the same amount as others in a much larger room. Also, there were a couple instances of people with the program relaying different information such as our books being included in the class payment fees while they were not. Overall I thought the classes were good. My Spanish class was very helpful I advanced as much as I had hoped I would.

CISabroad - Summer in Barcelona CIS Summer session in Barcelona was a good program, but classes were hard and housing was not up to my standards.

Reviewed by Alyssa Mariano on .

I chose this program because of its low price compared to the other study abroad programs for a summer session. The classes were pretty hard which I wasn't expecting, since it was a study abroad class in Barcelona, and I thought the program would consider this. Many students were happy with their housing, I wasn't because I was stuck in a very small room in which we couldn't move while everyone else that was paying the same price got much bigger rooms. The cultural immersion was great and the program was very helpful with suggesting things to do.

I really enjoyed my trip to Barcelona using this program. I really had no complaints. I will say that I think that everyone should stay in a host family because their immersion is better and they have a built in tour guide, chef and support system if you get homesick.
