First Steps
This is a great program to get your feet wet. You get wonderful exposure to Parisian living without feeling overwhelmed. Minimial French is needed. How often can you say you took an art history class that met in the Louvre? or Musee D'Orsay?

Unable to gauge academic standing. Waiting for transcript to see how I did.

Program Administration
Nina was great. Everyone was great, trying to make sure we had a wonderful experience.

Living Situation
Great apartment
-
Cultural Immersion
Too many people in Paris jump in to speak English when you're trying to speak French.
-
Safety
Felt very safe walking around Paris...even at 1:00 am.
-
Food
Only a couple of meals were provided. The Fountainbleau lunch was awesome, but the farwell dinner was horrible.
-
Social Life
Plenty of things to do, but you had to be willing to search them out.
-
Health Service
For minor concerns a pharmacie was nearby...could bypass a doctor's officie for things like a sprained ankle or sinus infection.

CISabroad - Summer in Paris Had a great time experiencing a new land regardless of the school issues.

This has been a great experience for me, being able to stay in Paris for a whole month was an adventure. I was able to make new friends and hang out all together. Even though I felt like I didn't get anything out of the french class the painting class made up for it. I've never painted before and this class was beyond amazing, we visited so many beautiful gardens, parks and historical places and were able to choose what we wanted to paint. The teacher was great as well he showed me how to begin my painting and how to make them better. I'm glad the school provided metro passes for us because I've never taken a train before and it was so much fun figuring out which train to take and being able to go all over Paris. The one thing I didn't like was having to pay for meals, I had thought the program was going to provide some meals but we had to figure out our meals on our own. There were only maybe 3 times when the school took us out on a trip and they paid for the meals, but that was it. Overall I had a great time regardless of the flaws in the program, being able to see a new culture and experiencing the lifestyle in a different country has opened up my eyes to more opportunities.

I would recommend this program to anyone interested in art, even if you aren't an art major. Any study abroad program in fact, it was a great experience that taught me a lot about my self and how i interact with different cultures. I had a blast, and the city is beautiful! so much history, and you see it just walking down the street.

CISabroad - Summer in Paris Best Experience Ever
Reviewed by Taylor Schwieger on .
The Summer in Paris program through CIS was one of the best experiences of my life. The teachers are great and they want you to have a good time. The classes were so much fun. IESA is a great place to study and CIS made it easy to know everything that was going on and get us to Paris, where IESA took over. Housing could have been a little better as the roommates weren't matched well and all of us lived all around Paris, but the apartments were nice and clean. Anyone question if they should do this program, I have three words for you... JUST DO IT!!! It was one of the best experiences of my life and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
