Fukui is situated in the central part of Japan, facing the Sea of Japan. Because of its location, Fukui has been a gateway to and from Asian countries through which there have been cultural exchanges since ancient times. Fukui is geographically close to Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan, which had been the center of culture for more than one thousand years since 794. While studying at Fukui, Clemson students have two options based on the Japanese Language Proficiency. Beginning to Intermediate students can study Japanese language and Japanese affairs, as well as courses in English. Courses in English are offered in Culture and Society, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture and Civil Engineering. Electric Engineering, Computer Science, Intelligent Systems, as well as Physical and Chemical Engineering. Students with a higher proficiency in the Japanese language are invited to enroll in the university as a regular student and attend courses with their Japanese counterparts. Less
