A Memorable Experience

I recently participated in this program as a volunteer in Eastern Italy. I had am amazing experience that changed my life! Working with the children was challenging at times, but so rewarding. The parents were very appreciative and thrilled their children were learning English from native speakers. All the camp directors were very organized and attentive to details and the curriculum was well planned. I am a junior high teacher in the US and took away some great ideas I will use in my own classroom.

Outside of teaching, the boarding and meal accommodations were wonderful. I had more than enough time to explore the city and travel out of town on the weekends. I truly felt I was submerged in the Italian culture. I would definitely participate in this program again. Thank you GeoVisions!

    I am so glad that I had the opportunity to be a part of such a unique program. The experience was more than I expected and was lifechanging. I think all of the tutors left a significant impact on the lives of the children at camp and vice versa. I enjoyed meeting new people and being a part of the Italian culture. I would highly recommend this program to someone who loves children and appreciates the Italian culture.

    Working at the Italian summer camp was nice. I loved the kids and it's given me great experience for my future career. The only thing I wished they did was half way through the experience, ask how your doing, and how it is working with the other volunteers. They asked informally, of course, but this didn't give an opportunity to tell them what was really going on within our teaching groups (between volunteers.)

    I recommend this program, just make sure you're not someone who doesn't like to speak up about things that aren't going right - other wise the problems will never be fixed.

    This program overall was an incredible experience that I would easily do every summer. Not only do you get to explore a different country but you also get to make a difference and teach children and have fun with them.

    Every person throughout this journey has been more than helpful and it made it a very comfortable and rewarding experience. There isn't a thing I would change about my month in Italy except for the amount of time I got to spend there, which wasn't enough.

    Although it may seem like an overused sentiment, but "You Can Camp" was truly life changing.

    Everyone who runs the camp is so kind and extremely generous. They truly care about the kids and their future and they go out of their way to make the tutors feel comfortable.

    I honestly discovered new things about myself. I had no desire to teach before this camp, and no I am very seriously considering getting a teaching certificate or a master in education. Besides that, Italy is just amazing anyways! I would love to go back.

    I had an amazing time living and volunteering in Macerata, Italy. Even though I have limited experience with traveling abroad and teaching, Geovisions helped me to feel completely prepared and excited about my trip. The accommodations and staff were wonderful, and the camps were organized and fun. I learned so much about Italian culture, working with others, and traveling independently through the summer camp program. I highly recommend this company any program to anyone interested in teaching and living abroad!

    I was a You Can Camp tutor the summer of 2011. I had a wonderful experience...one that I think of often and wish I could do again. The administration for the program were very helpful, kind and understanding. They are what make this program so enjoyable. They were helpful not only in our teaching duties but also our traveling as well. If you have ever been to another country you know how difficult it can be to find your way around...the You Can Camp staff made it so much easier. Our accommodations were excellent as well. We had a nice little apartment that we shared and after a few days it felt like home. I made life long friendships while tutoring in Italy for the You Can Camp program. I still talk with other tutors on a regular basis and visit with them about 2-3 times a year. Overall this is a wonderful program to help you grow as a teacher and see the beauty that is Italy.
