Why a GAC Internship in China?
In terms of growth, China is the largest economical powerhouse in the world today and as such provides a unique opportunity for applicants to gain work experience and acquire crucial business skills. Considering the tremendous growth and sustainability of Chinese economy, a work placement in a domestic or multi-national company will help you obtain hands-on experience of Chinese work culture, business environment, thereby considerably adding value to your CV and enhancing your future prospects.
While providing individuals the opportunity to gain work experience, an internship in China also enables them to learn Chinese language and culture. Interns also have the chance to experience Chinese culture in a close way by living with a local Chinese family.
As an intern, you will not only encounter new professional opportunities and challenges, but social ones too. The time you spend in China enables you to develop new relationships both in personal and professional spheres of life by participating in numerous networking events in China.
Students have the opportunity to work for at least 25 hours a week in local or international companies based in Beijing or Shanghai. Students have the option to request an internship placement by preference from any one of the following fields: Banking and Finance, Business Development, Education, IT, Marketing and Advertising, Non-Profit, Retail, and Travel and Tourism. Should you feel one of these fields is not the one for you. Please let us know and we will find you the right fit.
Please take into account that appropriate placements are determined by your educational and professional background, availability and Chinese language ability. Consideration is also taken by making early registration. As the placements are on 1st come 1st serve basis. Student applications for internships are evaluated by a team of professionals and recommended to various companies in China. Companies may sometimes interview students recommended by GAC prior to a final placement. At the end of the internship students will receive a reference from the onsite coordinator.
*Please note that the language training component is optional. If you think your Chinese language ability is good enough, or just want to have internship, you don't have to attend Chinese Language Classes. Less

I'm from Canada, studying engineering in the US and had finished my 2nd year. I joined Go Abroad China program in summer, 2010.
I got put in a 3 bedroom apartment with two others locals who are a year or two older than I am. I have my own bedroom space and it's bigger than my dorm room. I lived 2 min away from the bus stop to my office so it's very convenient. It takes me 40-50min to get to work. My Chinese roommates are very nice people and ... Read more

The family was very kind and provided assistance to me where they could. Secondly, the internship position itself and the company I worked for were excellent. For the first time since starting my studies I was able to get real-world, hands-on experien... Read more
