Unbelievable, everyone should try it.
This program is amazing. It gives middle and high school students an unbelievable opportunity to experience and understand other cultures. It also teaches them compassion and acceptance of people from other backgrounds. Their main gaol is to create a single, global community, and they have brought this very close to occurring.

Loved the extras we got to do and the home stay in Ireland was AMAZING. A little overly controlled and didn't get a ton of the time but did get some visited castles, schools, museums, historical spots. Lived in small hostels, hotels, homes and on a bus. Ferry and bus rides were long but fun people to be with.

I enjoyed both trips so much that I can't even think of what would happen if I never went on the trips. I made such great friends and had such a great experience. I recommend it highly. I first went to Australia in 7th grade and now still keep in touch with my homestay family and all my friends from the trip who even live in Florida. I loved everything we do in Australia and can remember everything so clearly and how great it was. I took so many pictures. It was amazing. Australia was definitely the best program. I would not be where I am now without it. When I went to England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales I had just finished my 8th grade year and I made so many new friends from that too. My favorite was Australia, but England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales was very enjoyable. I would recommend both programs to everyone, but if you really are looking for a lot of culture and lots of guaranteed fun I would go to Australia. Since Australia, I transferred schools to the one school where all my friends from the trip go and that's how it shaped the way I am now. I couldn't imagine ever leaving my old school, but now that I did I feel more at home and welcome thanks to the friends I made from my trip and experience of a lifetime to Australia.

People to People is the most amazing group I have ever traveled with/ been apart of. I've been on two of their trips one to France, Italy and Greece and another to Australia. It literally changed my world forever, its made me rethink what I want to do with my life and has given me unforgettable memories. I have over 90 new friends who were in my delegations not to mention the fact that we met countless people along the way. We completely went into the Culture with a home stay experience and let me tell you I am so grateful for that experience. It sounds crazy but in a matter of 2days my host family has become part of my real family and I still talk to them every chance I get. The rooms were always nice, plenty of good and new foods to try and I have learned so much! Im hoping to go on another program in the next two years and if you have the chance take it!

People to People Ambassador Program Greatest Trip EVER!!!
Reviewed by jheel1810 on .
I was an out of state delegate for the Exploring Europe trip to England, France, and Italy and it was one of the best trips I have ever taken. They had everything planned out so well and our delegation manager was super nice and always kept us busy ( in a good way!) I learned so much more on this trip compared to other trips I have taken because People to People doesn't just give you an opportunity to travel the world and see famous sights, they give you a chance to experience it through the homestay where you get the opportunity to live with a local host family (by far the BEST part of my trip!) and by giving you a chance to give back to their community through a service project and because we went to London, we also got to meet with an ex member of Parliament. When I came back from this trip, I had a much better understanding of the world and how I, as an individual, can make a difference in the lives of many others. I would definitely recommend People to People programs because they are simply put- the best.

People to People Ambassador Program So much more than I anticipated
Reviewed by Margaret on .
Minus the few things that may have been more of a cultural shock reaction, this program is well worth the expenses and your efforts. I traveled to 6 different countries in the summer of 2011 with a group of about 40 people. There were some unideal things that we dealt with like the hotels, some busses broke for other delegations, and little shopping time, but this trip isn't made to focus on those things. You hardly spend time in your hotel aside from sleeping in it and sometime eating there, shopping is a prevalent activity but it definitely isn't a priority seeing as you're in these countries to learn about them and have fun in them, not necessarily vacation. It is definitely an experience I would do yearly if I could and I'm lucky enough to be able to again this year, I highly recommend it. Those few things hardly affect your travel and experience, our bus had troubles once the entire trip and it wound up being more time for everyone to hang out in a local rest stop and chat and look around. It is very worth it and if you have siblings I encourage you try to persuade them to go along.

Not only go you get to go on a 3 week vacation to another country (and be the envy of all your friends) but you also get to learn and meet new friends that you could potentially have for the rest of your life (both from he states and people you meet in the host country).

I have been on three trips with People to People! I have made some life long friends on each of my trips! It is kind of scary at first, being away from home, in another country, by yourself. But once you get to know the other students better, it's great. It is really a bonding experience! After the first few days, you will think,"Man, these people are great." But towards the end of your trip, you will have spent every day for maybe two weeks with those people, and you will just be glad to get away from them!
But, all in all, all of my trips were great! I have some great memories. All of which I will never forget! -

People to People Ambassador Program Changed My Life

I traveled in 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2007 with People to People and it changed my life. More than a simple chance to go abroad my delegation leaders taught me how to think of myself as a global citizen, be flexible when things don't go as planned, and work as a member of a community. People to People offers the opportunity to see the world with behind-the-scenes access that I would have never had otherwise through experiences such as homestays, meetings with government officials, interactions with local students, and rappelling off castels. My college major (international relations) was chosen as a direct result of my experiences with People to People. The program provided fantastic experiences and my parents and I never had security concerns. Pre-travel preparation put our minds at ease while ensuring I learned about the destinations I was about to visit.

Traveling with People to People in 2011 to Australia was with no doubt the most amazing experience of my life. Never had I thought that I would be traveling across the world to Australia, a place where I learned about the stylistic dances of the Aborigines and the history of the continent. I explored cities culturally different from eachother that provided me with a taste of every aspect of culture you could find in Australia. I felt completely safe the entire time, and the delegation leaders were not only authority figures, but genuine adults that I felt comfortable talking to. I made everlasting friendships and discovered myself more than I ever expected traveling with People to People. My 2 week trip will forever remain in my heart, and I came out a more independent, strong person. I thank People to People for the person I am today.

I traveled to Australia with People to People when I was 13. It was a ton of fun! I got to see everything tourists hear about and more, while having my American teachers and an Australian local as a guide. I participated in a service project and made friends. When I got back, I was a lot more time conscious. I noticed that I was more on time, and I could get ready more quickly. There is not much time for pampering on these trips! I was very prepared to travel beforehand because of the orientation meetings, where I learned how to pack appropriately. This is the most important part! Honestly, you should be fine even if you do not know much about the country(ies) you are traveling to, but you should definitely know how to pack, and how to stay together in the group. People to People was a great experience and I would highly recommend it!

I traveled to Australia with People to People Student Ambassador Programs in 2007. We traveled to Sydney where we visited sites like the Olympic Stadium and the Sydney Opera House. Then we traveled north to Queensland and visited sites like the Great Barrier Reef, the Tropic of Capricorn, and an Australian farm. We were also given a taste of the culture of the Aboriginies of Australia where we learned about their music, lifestyles, and even learned how to throw a boomerang. It was the greatest experience of my life to this point, and I wish I could do it all over again and not change a single thing. People to People is an amazing organization. As a student ambassador, this program will take you to the most interesting places on the planet and show you the culture, the landmarks, and the people of the countries you visit. You will have a unforgettable time, and I highly recommend traveling and learning with People to People.

I was encouraged throughout the trip to step outside of my comfort zone. I traveled to France, Italy, and Greece in 2008 and I can honestly say my life is different. It was an incredible experience to be able to see and climb the Eiffel Tower, visit very famous places including the Vatican and Sistine Chapel. I was not sure how comfortable I would be getting thrown into larger cities than I was accustomed to but it was amazing. I am more confident in my abilities to navigate crowded streets of people and I am not terribly shy.

I went on a People to People Ambassador Program in 2010 when I was in 7th Grade. I was able to go to England, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. It is one of the things that I know for a fact I will never forget. I remember almost every single detail of that trip from when I got off the plane in London to that sad, sad day I had to leave from Amsterdam.
This program was amazing! I had so much fun, all of the things that I had learned while on this trip. There was never a dull moment where I felt like I would be bored. And the food that we had was to die for! If you go on a trip with People to People, remember to bring an open mind! This will be a whole new experience for you!
I STRONGLY recommend People to People to anybody that asks me about my trip and the program itself. The friends you will make on this trip will be your friends forever. I still stay in contact with all 30 members of my Delegation to this day! You will very quickly make friends with all of the people that you meet on this trip, even the host for your group!
In closing, this trip is something that everyone should go on if they can afford it. Yeah it is expensive, but if you ask family and friends, they usually will chip in a couple bucks or two. I loved every single moment on this trip, and I believe that you would too! (:

I went on two trips through People to People. The first was to England/Scotland when I was 11, by recommendation. This was my first time traveling alone (without parents) and it was a great experience. However, since the group I was with went at such a young age, at the end of our days when we arrived back at the hotels, any free time was spent within the hotel (at the hotel pool or in the lobby areas) and/or working on the journal assignments we had to do daily. The fact that we had to do those assignments and spent our free time in the hotels is the only thing that dampened the experience for me. But other than that it was a great trip. My second trip was an invite to return as an alumni ambassador on a trip to Japan. At this point I was 17 and Japan was one place I always wanted to visit. Our days were very fun, much like the days I had in England/Scotland, but what made it even more fun was that, since we were older, we could spend our free time walking around the city or town that we were in. And since we had more freedom during that time, at the end of the trip they weren't as strict with how many journal assignments were completed. Overall, People to People is a great program and I highly recommend it.

As a 6th grader sitting in an auditorium, you really don't get the feel for what's going on but as I continue throughout high school I can guarantee this is the opportunity of a lifetime. I have seen so many things I didn't think I was capable of ever seeing, to be honest. I feel as if my view of the world has changed from just the US and other countries that other people inhibit, to the US and other countries and beautiful lands I want to explore! I'm now a 9th grader and have been to Western Canada(2010), UK Ireland Scotland and Wales(2011) and have broadened cultures to Japan, where I am going to this summer(2013). I plan to hopefully "Pay My Way"(fundraise) my last two trips with P2P before graduating HS: France Italy and Greece(2014) and then Australia New Zealand and Fiji(2015). As the trips have been amazing experiences, you learn to be more independent and confident as you go more and more. Of course, as a 9th grader I have a feel of what I want to do: be a photographer that travels the world taking pictures then coming back to my print shop/portrait studio in a small town (hopefully) in London, England when I'm older. I have also shown an interest in universities abroad(Oxford) and many other volunteering opporunities for my "Gap Year" (def: a year's break taken by a student between leaving school and starting further education) which will most likely be a "Gap 8 weeks" because I want to get started with college as soon as possible. Another big detail is the friends I have made. I have made countless friendships but I have a few best friends that I am still in touch with as of now. The relationships you make are unforgettable and inseparable! The main point: People to People has changed my life in show many ways and is the BEST thing that could have ever happened to me.

Through the People to People program I have learned about other cultures and what makes us all different and yet so much alike. I have also learned the some history about the countries I have visited, along with experiences with new foods, modes of travel, what other countries do for recreation and so much more.
An unexpected plus to the program is the lifelong friends I have made. Some I have traveled with each year. These friendships are an added bonus to the entire experience because not only am I friends with fellow delegates but the families bond as well.
My world has opened in so many ways I don't know exactly where to start. Personally I have grown and matured in ways my friends haven't due to being away from my family. My knowledge of the world is so much more than books in a classroom or pictures on a wall or a TV show. I'VE BEEN THERE!

I don't know how his wonderful leaders got me to entrust "strangers" with my son, but they did. He has loved the home stays and I can see the cultural enrichment. I also like that P2P is always thinking of safety. They had a plan in place during my son's trip to London when the riots broke out. Not only did they keep every parent informed, they had every child call home (on the leader's phone). I highly recommend the People to People Ambassador Program!
