The program is based at the Institute of Kiswahili Research of the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and offers students an intensive program that combines in-class Swahili language study with immersion in the daily life and culture of the Swahili-speakers in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Less
I loved it especially, the sense of community with the other people who did this program. It had a really good balance of studying Swahili, volunteering and hanging out and exploring Dar and Tanzania.
Words to the wise: The program administration is slightly disorganized, but that's kind of part of the culture. There's not too much support. It's kind of what you make of it.
