Select Study Abroad prides itself on knowing Italy inside and out - from the most popular cities to the less visited countryside. However, we simply will not be satisfied taking you to the same list of sites you'd find in your average guidebook. A Select trip strives for a truly unique mix of the popular must-see sites and the best-kept secrets of any Italian city. When you're done, you may even know these places better than most Italians!
Each and every Select Summer Session will include the following trips, including transportation, hotel accommodations, activities, museums entrance fees, and more.
In addition to travel outside Florence, Select organizes countless activities in Florence such as food tastings (gelato, olive oil, coffee), site visits (palaces, museums, churches, gardens), demonstrations (leather-making, glass-blowing), and late-night entertainment (live music, dancing, karaoke). Select students have the unique opportunity to enjoy private evening visits to the Accademia (home to Michelangelo's David) and the Uffizi Gallery (home to Botticelli's Birth of Venus and Leonardo da Vinci's Adoration of the Magi). Select Directors welcome activity or event suggestions from students with special interests, as well as incorporate flexible free time into the summer schedule. All activities are optional and included in the program cost. Less
Two summers ago, I had the incredible opportunity to spend a month in Italy with Select Study Abroad. Honestly, writing a review is no easy feat, for it is difficult to know where to begin. If I could repeat that summer for the duration of my life, I would in a heartbeat. Not only was I academically challenged by the courses that I took at Lorenzo de Medici, the trip provided me with an unforgettable cultural experience. During the week, we remai... Read more
I have always appreciated traveling, but had never experienced anything like Select Study Abroad. I felt so lucky to be able to live in the middle of Florence in a hotel (I did my homework by the pool!) and the academics at LdM were incredible. I was able to take two fashion classes that involved both design and business! It was something I had always wanted to do but lacked the opportunity to study at Providence College. The traveling on the wee... Read more
I came across the program almost randomly, with no real intention of going abroad that summer, but I was drawn in by the incredible price and the seemingly endless list of opportunities and potential experiences. I had no trouble getting the credits to transfer to my NYU degree. I found that taking a class on the Renaissance and another on Italian Travel Literature while surrounded by art and architecture itself both a product of that period, and... Read more
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this program.
Select Study Abroad will change you. Looking for something magical to do this summer? Something with life-changing art, heavenly food constantly, incredible and inspiring experiences, and amazing people, plus bonus travel and cultural submersion (and endless Instagram gold)? Look no further.
First of all, it is an incredible deal. There is SO much included - from many unforgettable meals... Read more
I admit, I was nervous before doing my first study abroad, but Select quickly quelled all my fears! They made me feel completely at home, I made so many friends and it felt like a big family. The food, the hotels, the sights, the experiences, they were all superb. I forgot all my nervousness and felt completely at home. On top of that, the class I took on Hidden Meanings in Renaissance Art was once of the best I have ever taken. It was the first ... Read more
Every aspect of this program is incredible. I would go back a million times over if I could. Carrie, Kellin, and Sean, the directors of the program, make a wonderful team, and each has something special to offer to the experience. Their combined knowledge of the Italian language, art, and history could fill a library, and their enthusiasm for everything Italian rubs off. The academic courses are great, the weekend trips are even better, and each... Read more
