Founded in 1894 as the Northampton Institute of Technology, City University has evolved from a historical leader in science and technology into a modern forerunner in those fields, plus business, journalism, psychology, sociology and other contemporary disciplines. It adopted its current name in1966 to reflect its ideal location on the edge of the London financial district (the actual City of London). The campus is situated in the historic village of Islington, with a satellite location for the Business School just minutes away. Although its location is in the very heart of metropolitan London, the campus is located in a residential area that is comprised of cinemas, fringe theatres, more than 300 international cafes, pubs and restaurants and street markets laden with antiques, flowers, and clothing. City is a unique combination of professional and arts education, situated in an area that allows for professional development and personal fulfillment. "Global Campus in London."
