USQ has built a reputation for offering quality academic courses that are recognized worldwide by other higher education institutions, employers and internationally accredited professional bodies. Toowoomba enjoys four distinct seasons and the rich volcanic soil in the region helps maintain the 150 public parks that are scattered across the city. Every September the city hosts the Carnival of Flowers. This is a celebration of the richness of Toowoomba's environment when local people and thousands of visitors take pleasure in the city's beautiful flowering gardens and enjoy the many cultural events staged at this time. The city has been twice voted the best city to live in Australia. Factors that influenced this decision included the city's low cost of living, pleasant surroundings, clean air, and the safe, friendly atmosphere. The campus is located on 75.6 hectares of landscaped grounds just a 10 minute drive from the city centre. The University has a wide range of facilities which include television studios, the main University library, performing arts theatre, concert hall, sciences and engineering laboratories, modern lecture theatres, computer laboratories (24 hour access available), sport and recreation centre, archery range, tennis and basketball courts, and five sports grounds.
