Since then, our name and means of transportation have changed, but our mission remains very much the same – to provide students with the opportunity for cultural and linguistic immersion along with rigorous academic work in their core American courses. At our school in Zaragoza, Spanish language, literature, history and art history are offered in Spanish and taught by native teachers, while English and mathematics are taught in English by American faculty. Applicants for this program must currently be studying in Spanish level two or above. Less
SYA is unique from a college experience in that we are younger (less mature, less independence) and we are situated in our "own little school" (72 ppl. incl. faculty). The positive side is the strong bonds developed with professors and the class-wide excursions that we took to different parts of Spain. Read more

Overall I had a great time at SYA Spain. I went my junior year in high school which was from the fall of 2006 until the 2007. I must say that coming from a private school the work load wasn't hard at all at SYA Spain. I felt that I still had a lot of free time even though we took six classes each. This may be due to the fact that we did not have the full 180 days of school.
The one thing I did not like was my host family. I only lived with... Read more
One of the most amazing experiences of my life! I'm still here in Zaz until May, and already so sad that we leave so soon. Zaragoza will always be my home, and now i'll feel so much more comfortable in the world with friends all over america and now in europe too.
I'm going to miss this great program! Read more
SYA is an incredible experience and I would recommend it to anyone. Only problem with the information provided is that it is more like 35-40,000 dollars as opposed to 2,000-5,000... however compared to the best prep schools in the country it is pretty similar in price Read more
Living in Zaragoza was one of the best experiences of my life. The academics were challenging but not impossible and the teachers greatly facilitated our integration into the Spanish culture and our enjoyment of our time there. Read more

This program is opened to Juniors and Seniors in high school who have taken Spanish for two years or more. Held in Zaragoza, between Madrid and Barcelona, it is a great location because it is not too touristy yet close to two major cities.
My class of 2006 had 63 American students, although the ratio of girls to guys is overwhelming. I made amazing life long friends, as you travel with them for the year and work with them in small... Read more
