A review on International Summer School - University of Stirling, Scotland

Reviewed by Katie Mulhausenstudent(Washington State University - Tri-Cities) on

ISS created my extended Scottish family

ISS was a great program. They provided so many fun experiences and the administrative staff was so helpful. The rooms are typically dorm rooms, but the campus is gorgeous and centrally located in Scotland. It is summer school, so it's generally just you and other study abroad students, so cultural immersion shouldn't be your priority. The classes and teachers were fun and the work load is manageable. I really did make friends for life and I can't say enough good things about this program!

Thoroughly enjoyed my experience at U of Stirling. I have nothing but fond memories of my time there. Great education, staff, locale, experience, the whole nine yards. Not to sound totally cliche, but it's a time I'll never forget with new friends I'll always have.

My ISS experience was amazing. Stirling is a wonderful city and the university campus is a beautiful place. For anyone looking to study abroad in the UK, I would highly recommend a program in Scotland. Learning about the culture and rich history of this country is definitely one of the highlights of my life. I wish I could have stayed longer...if you do this program, I would definitely recommend doing both sessions!

Definitely a worthwhile program. Not too expensive, and you will definitely get you money's worth. Classes are intensive yet interactive. I learned more in my 4-week marketing class here than I did at my home university in a semester. You will learn and grow. Stirling is a vibrant town filled with history. The club scene is worth checking out. A few pubs dot the streets as well and are great fun. 5/5

International Summer School - University of Stirling, Scotland A Seriously Great Experience

I had a fantastic time in Stirling! I initially chose this program because they had a broad range of classes to choose from. The academics were fast paced (it is summer school after all) but not overwhelming and the field trips were nice. The administration was friendly and helpful. I had plenty of time on the weekends for side trips to other countries and cities. I really liked the city of Stirling itself as well. I met a lot of awesome people that I still talk to regularly and I am very glad I chose this program.

This experience was the best way to immerse myself in Scottish culture. I was able to travel anywhere I wanted but with the help of the ISS staff. They schedule immersion trips for all students during the weekdays allowing you the weekend to explore with your friends. I totally recommend anyone who is interested in beauty, adventure, and fun to do study abroad with the ISS.

Classes are intensive and interactive. Instructors arrange field trips that provide students a visual and hands-on experience about the subject matter studied. One of our classes took a field trip to Fairy Hill in Dunning. After quite a little hike and being able to see and touch a real place, while listening to the instructor's lecture, I have certainly had no problem remembering the material.

ISS also arranges extra-curricular excursions that allows students to experience the beauty and cultural aspects from modern to medieval that Scotland has to offer. Some trips are included in the program cost, while others are an additional cost at fair prices from trusted local tours.

Overall, ISS at the University of Stirling offers one of the best study abroad programs available at a fraction of the price of programs in other countries. You won't be disappointed spending a summer in Scotland!

International Summer School - University of Stirling, Scotland Really interesting courses and great living arrangements on a beautiful campus.

The ISS is an amazing program. There are so many interesting courses taught by Professors who have a passion for their subjects. The campus is also simply awe inspiring. Walking to class on my two days of class each week meant walking pass the Castle and Loch on campus, not to mention the Swans.
The program also scheduled for trips to Edinburgh, Glasgow, and St. Andrews which were great tastes of each city's day life. The long weekends allowed for really fulfilling trips into the highlands and around the country. Other programs would not have been as flexible or helpful in setting up trips outside of the program's parameters. However, this program's interns, Andy and Mark, went above and beyond the call of duty to help make the summer great.
Stirling itself is also only a short bus ride away, which offers some shopping, night life, and a good dose of history. Credit for 3 classes in 8 weeks with only 2 days of class a week! Take it and run with it! This program is superb!

This summer program was simply amazing. The program size is about 100 students and you get to know almost everyone. Easy access to major cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow but Stirling is also a very fun place. The ISS team did a great job putting together events and weekly trips. Classes are Monday-Wednesday so there is plenty of time to travel around Europe with the new friends you make! The campus is very safe and nice! The ISS staff is really friendly and incredibly helpful as well. Definitely an experience of a lifetime and is easily my best summer yet!

The University of Stirling truly lives up to its reputation as one of the more gorgeous campuses within Scotland. There's a lot of beautiful scenery, from the area around Airthrey Castle to exploring the nearby Wallace Monument. The academic classes offered are very interesting, and there are a broad range of classes to choose from, so no should be disappointed with their choice(s). International Summer School - University of Stirling, Scotland Great Summer in Scotland

Reviewed by Jonathan Catania on .

The summer program offered at Stirling University is the best study abroad experience. The city of Stirling is small but was a perfect place to study for 2 months, with allot of history, friendly locals, easy transportation, good restaurants, and a few fun places to go out at night with the people you meet. Stirling's campus and surrounding areas are beautiful. The classes are well instructed and, only 3 days a week. I took 9 credits all were requirements for my major, I barely felt as if I were ever in class. The coordinators for ISS were all nice, and helpful, they really set up a great program. ISS set up weekly trips to St. Andrews, Glasgow, and Edinburgh, as well as a good bye Ceilidh. There are about 100 or so students in the program that come from all over, and making friends to go out with and travel is as easy as wandering into someone's flat. I would recommend this program to anyone interested in studying abroad for the summer. I had the best summer ever.
A special thanks to Sterling Yates, Andy, Amy, Blair, Jade, and Caroline.
