The Hague program offers students the opportunity to enroll in a broad range of courses in a variety of disciplines at The Hague University's School of European Studies (HEBO). Students are required to take a Dutch language and a Dutch culture course for the first 6 weeks of the semester which includes organized field trips to locations such as Delft, famous worldwide for its blue and white pottery, or the Kröller-Müller Museum, known for its expansive collection of Van Gogh paintings. Call it what you will - Holland or the Netherlands. The image is one of tulips, cheese and windmills and in many cases this is a very accurate one. The Netherlands is one of the world's most prosperous countries due to advanced industries and agriculture, its role in world trade and large reserves of natural gas. The Netherlands means 'the low counties' because 60% of the country is below sea level and would be under water if not for its dikes and dams ' 'God made the world, but the Dutch made the Netherlands'.
