Glad I did it again!
This course was, once again, completely worth my time and money. I made great friends, improved my Chinese, and got a ton of credits! 15 to be exact. I highly recommend it to anyone in the Chinese program. I don't think you'll find a comparable trip.

Safety
Obviously, there are bad people everywhere. But my biggest concern was getting pick-pocketed. I even took a cab back to the dorms alone one night, and felt pretty safe. But when your in a group, it's most safe!

Health Service
Got sick the first week there and Yang Laoshi helped me get Chinese Traditional medicine. It worked better than anything I've ever taken before!

City Life
There are a lot of places to go, I recommend staying away from anywhere with a lot of white people. Go where the locals go. Cui Hu park is wonderful, though it's under construction right now.

This program is AMAZING! I'm going a second time! It's 15 credits in 4 weeks; 1 in Bejing and 3 in Kunming. We speak Chinese the entire time and become completely immersed! If you want to perfect your Chinese and have the time of your life - go on this trip!!

WWU Faculty Led Program: Chinese Language and Culture Going to China was worth the money.
Reviewed by Taylor Lyon on .
Although there were a few things that I would have changed, overall the trip was entirely worth the $5000+ dollars. We earned 15 credits that we definitely had to work very hard for. It's not easy, that's for sure. But the amount of knowledge I gained and the sites I got to see could not be bought. We got to see some towns and areas that I most likely would never have gone to or known about had I traveled on my own. I definitely suggest this trip to anyone and everyone who is interested in learning chinese.

WWU Faculty Led Program: Chinese Language and Culture No better way to learn a language.

The program was excellent, and delivered academically in every way it promised. There were some disappointing moments in terms of staff and living conditions during certain portions of the trip, but on the whole I would say it was worth the money.

WWU Faculty Led Program: Chinese Language and Culture A great learning experience.

The program was a little unorganized at times, but overall, it was a wonderful experience and my Chinese Language skills improved tremendously. I had two favorite aspects from this study abroad experience; the first was visiting sites of cultural importance, and the second was having one-on-one time with Chinese graduate students.

WWU Faculty Led Program: Chinese Language and Culture Studying In China

I definitely learned a lot on this study abroad trip, my Chinese has improved and I am much better at reading and writing. I also learned a lot about Chinese culture, I think I experienced a bit of culture shock while I was there and even when I came home. My only complaints were that not all of our meals were covered. Some of the dorms we stayed in were not very clean and we ran into several problems like not having electricity or hot water.

Definitely worth it! 15 credits in 4 weeks, and my Chinese improved a lot! Just don't take this if you're looking for an easy vacation. It's a lot of fun, but a lot of work!

WWU Faculty Led Program: Chinese Language and Culture Cultural whirlwind/Language boot camp well-worth your $$
Reviewed by Rebecca Mantyla on .
This trip is a whirlwind of culture and good memories. It is also language boot camp. Applicants should be eager to improve their skills and be willing to work hard. The best thing however is that your hard work is earning you possibly the most credits you can get for your money. You don't have much time to poke around by yourself. so If a tour is what you are looking for, look elsewhere. All professors are native speakers, and they are usually very knowledgable/friendly/awesome. I've gone on the trip twice! Its worth it!
