A review on WWU Faculty Led Program: TESOL in Queretaro, Mexico

An amazing experience overall.

I would highly recommend going on this trip. It is A LOT of work, but don't let that discourage you. As long as you work hard you will have more than enough free time to go out an experience the city. I would also recommend going for both sessions instead of just one if you can.

Don't be afraid to eat street food. You will have a bit higher risk of getting sick, but it is usually cheaper and way tastier than the food you would get at a legitimate restaurant.

WWU Faculty Led Program: TESOL in Queretaro, Mexico Must visit city and experience

This study abroad experience was a rich one. It was not only an experience in another culture, but it was one that included requirements for my major and for my peers minor. It was an experience I will never forget, but it was also not one that took me away from the classes I was required to take for my program. The people involved were amazing and my homestay made the trip even better. My family in Queretaro was just that, family. The time spent in class was large, but the practicum experiences made it worth it. Make time to explore the city as much as possible because it is rich with history and culture. It is also just a city where people go about their lives. It has that urban feel, but it is not exactly the same as an urban environment in the USA. I felt safe and at home in Queretaro right away. I will make sure I go back to visit in my life and I made friends and memories on this trip I will always cherish.

I really enjoyed the classes that were taught and the faculty that was down there. Cultural instruction corresponds with what you are observing and doing in the area so it makes the experience person. The sights are amazing!

Queretaro is a wonderfully welcoming, beautiful and clean city. I felt more safe there walking home alone than in Bellingham Washington. The food, culture and University were great. I would go back in a heartbeat! My only complain was with my home stay family (make sure you live close to your University because if you live farther away you miss out on a lot of interactions).

Lots of great thing to say about it! Learned so much and most of that learning was done outside of the classroom. The culture, language, experiences really provided a rich experience.

The classes were rather stellar, in that i learned so much. I am in the Woodring program and found these classes to be valuable. I really appreciate what i learned now that i am back taking edu classes in the states.

My host family was amazing and i will remember them always. My practicum was also great and i will take what i learned form that with me always.

Going with little Spanish language learning was a challenge, but a really fantastic and eye opening one. I learned what it felt like to be a language learner in a foreign country. It was hard at times and isolating, but i fell that is a great experience for a future teacher of ELLs.

Student teaching, studying Spanish, living with a host family, chatting with the staff at Ole, and getting to know my fellow TESOL students while in Queretaro were incredible experiences. Sometimes it was challenging, but always well worth it and so, so fun! I highly recommend this program!

The food was wonderful and if you had a hard time eating something it was no problem to talk to your host mom about it.
